ISLAMABAD — The Ministry of Interior has categorically rejected reports regarding alleged targeted deportations of Pakistani nationals from the United Arab Emirates, calling such claims "malafide" and part of a "vicious propaganda" campaign. In an official statement issued on Friday, the ministry clarified that no country-specific or sect-specific deportations are being carried out from the UAE under routine immigration laws.

The clarification comes after reports surfaced on social media and in international media, including a New York Times article, claiming that approximately 1,200 Pakistanis had been deported from the UAE over visa-related issues in the aftermath of the regional crisis triggered by the US-Iran conflict.

Ministry's Official Response

The interior ministry said it had thoroughly reviewed the relevant details and data and found the reports to be fabricated and misleading. "No country or sect-specific deportations from any country, including the UAE, are being carried out," the statement emphasised.

The ministry clarified that deportations, where they occurred, were part of a routine process undertaken in accordance with the host country's regulations and legal system. These include cases involving violations of laws, overstaying of visas, or illegal documentation.

Routine Process, Not Targeted Action

According to the statement, Pakistani nationals who fulfil the visa and work-related requirements of host countries continue to travel to and obtain employment visas for the UAE and other friendly nations "without prejudice".

The ministry described the social media posts and "fake news" suggesting targeted deportations as "malicious and fabricated", aimed at serving "ulterior motives". It added that any matter involving a Pakistani national abroad is addressed on a case-by-case basis with the relevant country through established Foreign Office channels.

Foreign Office's Position

During the weekly press briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson stated that Pakistan's diplomatic missions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai were actively managing individual consular cases brought to their attention by community members or applicants directly.

The spokesperson confirmed that the deportations were related to immigration status violations, legal infractions, and repatriation — not political reasons. "I do not see any political reason for their deportation. These are primarily legal cases, which are being taken care of, both by our diplomatic missions in UAE as well as by the UAE authorities," the FO spokesperson stated.
